South Ostrobothnia Regional Fund

The South Ostrobothnia Regional Fund is one of the Finnish Cultural Foundation's 17 regional funds. It was founded in 1959 as part of the Ostrobothnia Fund together with the Central Ostrobothnia Fund. The South Ostrobothnia Fund became a separate entity in 1963.

The Fund is devoted to promoting and developing the arts, the sciences, and other fields of endeavour in the historic province of South Ostrobothnia - by providing grants and awards, and organising other activities.

Applicants born in in South Ostrobothnia and Ostrobothnia are given priority when awarding grants, as is scientific or artistic work carried out in or covering the region, together with major regional cultural projects.

The region covered by the Fund includes 32 municipalities, some of which are shared with the Central Ostrobothnia Regional Fund.

The South Ostrobothnia Regional Fund comprises a General Fund and donor funds based on private and public donations and bequests. A donor can establish a donor fund bearing his or her name.

The Fund's activities and decision-making are impartial and not linked to political parties or other organisations or associations. Grants made by the Fund are decided by an Administrative Council.
