At  the Annual Gala on February 27, 2011 the Finnish Cultural Foundation awarded ca. 1.000 grants and three awards for outstanding achievement with a total sum of 20,3 million euro. In addition, the 17 regional funds will award altogether 9,3 million euro during spring 2011.

The Foundation has awarded special awards for outstanding achievement since 1941. The recipients of these awards, which are made on the Foundation's initiative, are private individuals.

This year professor Kari Astala, doctor Raisa Cacciatore and  cartoonist, graphic designer Ville Tietäväinen each received an award of 30.000 euro for their eminent work promoting high quality Finnish national culture.
